We are Allison and Richard, from Maryland, and on December 5th our baby girl, CLARA NOEL was born. We chose to be surprised by our baby’s gender, and we both expected a boy – but wow are we delighted with a little girl! Clara is our first child. We have been married three years. I teach 9th grade history in a public school and my husband Richard has just finished management training with Starbucks.
Our niece Jolie provided the little hand in our photo. The Bob Dylan lyric, “May You Stay Forever Young” has been a classic song from my childhood. I have been a fan of Anne Geddes since my teenage years. In fact, in 2001 an Anne Geddes book was my single Christmas gift when I was 16. That year I had taken a mission trip to Brazil. I wanted to “adopt” a needy Brazilian family to give them Christmas gifts. I requested that all money for gifts for me be spent for this purpose. My parents honored this request, but they had already purchased the Anne Geddes book for me months earlier. I had the joy of seeing the faces of the recipients, a family of 7, from photos sent by the missionaries.
This contest appeals to us because of the exciting possibility of meeting Anne Geddes, and the overall purpose of improving lives for other moms and babies by giving them the chance to stay forever young.
