I live in Harrisburg, Penn., where I moved from my hometown of Baltimore, Md. about 2 years ago for work. Soon after moving, I met Bobby. Like many, I have waited until later in life to start a family. This baby, our first, is a blessing, and a bit of a miracle. I’m 36, and this little girl could potentially be our only child. She is eagerly anticipated, and is the first grandchild for each side of our families. Although I have enjoyed my pregnancy, I actually never planned to take the traditional belly pictures – until I decided I wanted to help raise awareness with this contest. Four generations of women in my family collaborated for my entry; my mother, my grandmother, my sisters, and me and my unborn daughter. I decided to submit a message of hope to my daughter. The first question that came to my mind was, “What are her hopes and dreams for herself?” It is my hope that my daughter will do in her life what her heart tells her to do. That she will grow to be a healthy, independent, well-adjusted woman whose family supports her to follow the path that she is drawn to.
I hope that her “prints” take her to great places, and I hope that she continues this journey of charity and leadership throughout her life.
